CBRail Finances New Electric Trains for Abellio

CBRail announced today that it has successfully concluded the financing of 17 new FLIRT EMU trains for Abellio following its success in winning the tender for the Ruhr-Sieg franchise around Essen in North Rhine Westphalia.   Abellio is a major provider of public transport in the local region.

The trains will be built by Stadler at their plant in Pankow near Berlin, and will be delivered in time for the start of the franchise in December 2007.  The franchise lasts for 12 years.

The total order amounts to around €60 million, and represents the second fleet of passenger trains acquired by CBRail.
