EMD 300 Thp Class66

EMD CLASS 66:

The Class 66 is two bogie 6-axle locomotive in Co-Co configuration with 22.5 tonnes axle weight. The locomotive has the following specifications: starting tractive effort of over 400kN, installed power 2420 kW, maximum speed of 120km/h, fuel capacity 6400 litres, V12, 2-stroke turbocharged engine and an AC/DC electric transmission.

Over 570 Class 66 locomotives have now been built and delivered and the Class 66 has achieved type homologation in many countries including the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Poland, Egypt and Sweden.

The two R4C and one HGK locomotives were manufactured in 2007, meet UICII emissions requirements, and have provision for an air conditioning unit to be fitted in the cab roof. The HHPI locomotive was manufactured in 2002. These units are homologated and equipped for operation in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Poland.
